LGBTQI+
New York is a sanctuary for LGBTQI+ people, as it should be, but our neighbors continue to face threats every day, from the street level to the highest levels of the federal government. Eon will vigilantly defend New Yorkers' rights to gender-affirming care, fight to expand resources for at-risk LGBTQI+ youth, and stand up to Donald Trump's cruel assaults on healthcare, freedom of expression, and bodily autonomy.
Eon understands that the right to identify as LGBTQI+ is a life-and-death matter for many New Yorkers, and believes there should be no barriers, legal or societal, standing between you and self-expression.
In Albany, Eon will always stand up for the right to self-expression and an end to all forms of discrimination. He'll also fight for the Gender Identity Respect, Dignity, and Safety Act, which would extend our state's discrimination protections for LGBTQI+ individuals to incarcerated New Yorkers.
Eon recognizes that queer and gender-nonconforming youth are among the most vulnerable and preyed-upon people in our society. He will push for protections for youths at risk of becoming unhoused, the creation of an LGBTQI+ youth and young adult suicide prevention task force, and funding for mental health resources.
As a democratic socialist, Eon rejects all barriers to healthcare. He recognizes that gender-affirming care is healthcare, and believes that healthcare is a human right. As part of a broader push for true, universal healthcare via the New York Health Act, Eon will always fight to fund gender-affirming care and resist right-wing attempts to score political points by depriving our trans neighbors of the care they need.
