Immigrant Justice

New York is meant to be a place where everyone has an opportunity to build a life, regardless of who they are or where they were born. Yet everyday, we see new cruelty from the Trump administration and the army of ICE agents it's building to terrorize our community. As your Assemblymember, Eon will fight to keep ICE off our streets and keep our immigrant neighbors safe, regardless of their immigration status.

Trump's authoritarian and racist immigration policies are an abomination, and Eon will do everything in his power to protect New Yorkers from them. Eon supports the New York for All Act, which will stop state and local agencies, including law enforcement, from cooperating with ICE, as well as the Dignity Not Detention bill, which prohibits local facilities from holding people detained by federal immigration authorities. Together, these bills will prevent any New York State entity from assisting in ICE's arrests and detentions and make our state safer everyone threatened by right-wing tyranny.

As the son of an undocumented immigrant, Eon has always believed that people are people, regardless of immigration status. He will ensure that immigrants have the quality representation they deserve—in a language they know—in immigration court, and fight to extend healthcare benefits and unemployment benefits to all workers, regardless of status. He believes New York's schools, hospitals, and other public services must be equally accessible to everyone, no matter where they come from or what language they speak, and knows Brooklyn is only Brooklyn thanks to its beautiful patchwork of immigrant and diaspora communities.
