Climate Justice

For decades, fossil fuel companies, industrial polluters, energy lobbyists, and sellout politicians have poisoned our planet for personal gain, subjecting us to flooding, rising temperatures, and pollution. This is both a global problem and one that disproportionately affects poor, Black, and brown New Yorkers. Eon will address the climate crisis head-on, fighting for a Green New Deal for New York, building new, publicly-owned renewable energy sources, and bringing down energy costs in the process.

The floods and heat waves that have wreaked havoc on New York in recent years are telling us what we already knew: We are facing a climate crisis, locally and globally, which is the fault of corporate polluters and the politicians who have shamefully given them cover to ravage the only planet we’ve got.

Eon proudly supports a Green New Deal for New York, which includes climate-resilience projects that will protect New Yorkers and their homes from the next heat wave and the next storm; the construction of new green energy infrastructure to transition our state off poisonous fossil fuels, and the creation of thousands of good, union jobs in the process.

The utility bills are too damn high! Eon knows why: Our state has granted legal monopolies to corporations like ConEd and National Grid, giving them free reign to charge you more and more every year. Even as shareholders’ profit margins increase at the expense of working New Yorkers, Black and brown neighborhoods suffer disproportionately from blackouts and service interruptions.

Eon will hold these monopolies accountable for their price-gouging. Even more importantly, he will break their monopoly by enthusiastically backing the construction of publicly-owned renewable energy sources. That means pressing the Governor to fulfill the mandate of the Build Public Renewables Act and begin the construction, by union labor, of wind and solar energy projects across our state. By fining polluters and investing in not-for-profit green energy sources, we will demonstrate that a truly sustainable future is possible while lowering New York’s energy bills.

Fossil fuel companies and corporate utilities want to spend billions of our dollars to expand toxic, climate-wrecking fracked gas infrastructure while driving up energy bills for already overburdened customers. Eon won't let them.

New York State must not do the bidding of the Trump administration by greenlighting fossil fuel infrastructure projects that undermine our state's own climate law. We must expand on the 2014 state mandate that banned fracking on our soil by vehemently opposing the construction of new fracked gas pipelines, including the Constitution Pipeline and Williams Pipeline, despite the latter’s recent advancement in the state permitting process.

Eon supports the Green Schools for a Healthier New York platform, which means he'll push to renovate 500 public schools with renewable energy infrastructure and HVAC upgrades, build 500 green schoolyards and turn heat-absorbing asphalt into joyful green spaces, and create 15,000 union jobs in the process. He'll make sure these upgrades prioritize the most out-of-date facilities, combatting the environmental racism that has long been visited on Central Brooklyn.

New Yorkers did not ask for a slew of energy-guzzling data centers to be constructed in our backyard, driving up our energy bills and doubling down on our reliance on fossil fuels to fund chatbots and spam.

Eon will not allow tech companies and their lobbyists to put our state on the path towards a jobless future of climate degradation and AI slop. He supports a moratorium on data center construction and refuses to take money from the AI lobby trying to foist them on New Yorkers.
